The Tri-City ValleyCats topped the Batavia Muckdogs, 9-1, in New York-Penn League action at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Tri-City right fielder Jesús Rodríguez. Tri-City starter Stu Hewer was credited with the win after throwing 80 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. José Valdés sewed up the save, his 1st.

Reggie Coleman had a big 2-run double for the ValleyCats in the bottom of the second inning. With Tri-City leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a splitter from 21-year old right-handed pitcher Steve Cole and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 2nd double of the season, and more importantly, it put the ValleyCats ahead, 3-0.

"We played a good game and came out on top," said Coleman.

The loss drops Batavia to 1-3.
