Simpson Helps Lowell Cruise to 10-0 Win
|
The Lowell Spinners put one in the win column on Opening Day at Edward A. LeLacheur Park. The Spinners defeated the Staten Island Yankees, 10-0. Lowell shortstop Johnathan Simpson was instrumental in his team's success. He went 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once.
With the game tied, 0-0, in the bottom of the sixth, Simpson had a key at-bat for Lowell. With a runner on 3rd, Simpson hit a run-scoring single off Omar Padua, making the score 1-0, Spinners.
"I think we did a good job of looking for pitches we wanted to hit and put good swings on them," said Lowell skipper Tony Castillo.
