|
Behind the hitting of Al O'Mullan, the Detroit Tigers stopped the Boston Red Sox, 5-4. O'Mullan was 1 for 2 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Tigers. Detroit pitcher Dave Weaver earned the win, hiking his record to 1-0. Juan Cervantes suffered the loss. Tomás Mendoza sewed up the save, his 12th.
Detroit took a 5-4 lead on Devon Fisher's 4th double of the season. The bases-clearing double, which Fisher hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Boston pitcher Juan Cervantes visibly frustrated.
"I was a little disappointed," said Boston manager Alvin Morman. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
Detroit is 21-16 and Boston, with the loss, 17-19.
