Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles. New York won it, 3-0. New York starter Adys Portillo was in command. Portillo got the win, improving to 4-3. He gave up 1 hit and walked 2 over 5.2 innings. He allowed no runs. Caleb Williams was called on to finish, recording his 2nd save.

Israel Ávila had a big solo home run for the Yankees in the bottom of the sixth inning. With New York leading 1-0 and the bases empty, he sized up a changeup from Tristan Dailey, who finished 2nd in the NL in innings pitched with 201.2 in 2021, and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Yankees on top, 2-0.

"I felt great. Had good rhythm with my mechanics," said Portillo.

With the win, New York upped its record to 18-17.
