Torres, Diamondbacks Too Much for Cubs
|
A 4-RBI performance from Christopher Torres, who finished 2nd in the AL in stolen bases with 32 in 2023, helped the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Chicago Cubs, 7-4. The loss drops Chicago to 14-19.
Derek Briggs went 2 for 4 with 2 singles for Arizona. The slugging third baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the fifth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring single off Jon Hall. It was his 22nd hit of the season.
"It feels good to get this one," Briggs told the Arizona Citizen.
