Chris Riley impressed in the 8-6 Pittsburgh win over San Diego. Riley, who is the 2nd-best prospect in the Pirates organization, was 2 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Clarence Wall, now 1-1, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed 1 run on 1 hit, while striking out 0 and walking 1. The loss puts San Diego at 14-17.

The decisive blow was delivered by Juan Reyes in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run home run off 25-year old right-handed pitcher Steve Huff to win the game for Pittsburgh. The home crowd went nuts.
